What's Zapoint? The point - and no, we couldn't resist - is to rid the world of resumes. We could also say it's an effort to assess employees and hopefuls by way of a mathematical formula, presenting their personal and professional achievements in the company's trademarked LifeChart.

This ambitious effort is behind a series of talent management and recruitment products Zapoint provisions as SaaS. For instance PreSourced, its ATS, will parse a typical candidate resume into a LifeChart, presenting a graphical display of education, employment and achievements. The alogorithm crunches that data against the job description, ranking the candidate against all others. A recruiter or hiring manager can then pop open the LifeChart of the top scorers to look at them in greater depth.

It takes some doing to read a LifeChart. It's not immediately obvious what the various intersections and highs and lows mean. A peak isn't necessarily always good and a valley always a negative. But once you get the hang of it, there's a bit of a temptation because of the interactivity to spend more time than you might reviewing credentials.

Zapoint also collects resumes from curious professionals who submit their information just to see what their LifeChart looks like. These candidates become part of the Talent Network.

Because these charts aren't tied to a job description, a company can use Zapoint to analyze the skills and strengths of its workforce. That's its SkillsMapper product, which presents a broad view of a company, while also providing a drill down for division and department managers and line managers, too.

There's also a performance management tool and more are planned, all of them tied into the LifeChart, which is the (again, we can't resist) heart and soul of the Zapoint way.

Products & Services

  • LifeChart

A graphical representation of a participant's resume and supplemental achievements. Skills, education, experience and other elements of a resume are crunched and converted into data points via some algorithm that assigns points to each. We're not sure what the points mean or how they are calculated. The LifeChart is the basis on which all the products are based. Individuals who want to see how their chart looks become members of the Zapoint Talent Network, a resume database for Zapoint recruiter customers.
  • PreSourced

SaaS provisioned ATS built on LifeChart analysis. Candidates are ranked against each other and as best fits to a job description. It has some tracking capabilities and reports, but lacks some features such as calendaring, candidate self-service, job posting, and CRM. Still, the price is $19 a seat per month and you get access to the growing Zapoint candidate database.
  • SkillsMapper

Charts the skills of an enterprise to graphically present strengths and weaknesses, helping to identify gaps and unearth hidden abilities. Employees get LifeCharts and the ability to see how they compare to their peers; management gets intelligence and drilldown capability to aid planning and organization.
  • Performance Manager

Goals and objectives oriented performance management tool.
