Drop the name Ed Newman and heads turn. He's that well-known and that well-regarded, one of the reasons the consulting firm that bears his name was considered such a great catch by Korn / Ferry.
Founded by Newman in 1999, the company developed a Fortune 500 client roster and a reputation for evaluating vendors and leading implementations of recruiting and talent management technologies. Based just outside Philadelphia with virtual offices across the U.S., the company grew quickly, consulting on strategic talent initiatives, strategic recruiting, workforce planning, and employment brand development.
When The Newman Group was acquired by Korn / Ferry's Futurestep in June 2007, the press release said Newman and his group of consultants, "provides a level of expertise that will help strengthen Futurestep's position as an outsourced recruitment leader." That was no mere PR-speak. Futurestep had bench-depth in RPO but lacked the strong consulting chops it needed to offer its clients help with their broader and more strategic talent management issues.
That's the sweet spot for The Newman Group, which Newman still heads and which Futurestep wisely left as an autonomous operating unit. Today the company provides third-party
expertise to evaluate technology vendors, develop strategies for structuring
talent operations and implementing processes related to recruiting and talent
management. In addition, the company provides resources to support existing
operations and technologies.
