Standout Jobs holds promise as the answer to bland, uninspired corporate career sites that should more rightly be called job boards.
This startup offers self-service career site building tools and a 45-day free trial. Incorporate photos, video, RSS, text and, of course, your job postings in a package that puts to shame many of the job-board-in-a-box sites that have become the standard of the SMB world. It's template-driven and easy enough that even the most tech-challenged HR department can build a career site without help from IT.
There are plenty of private-label career site providers. What differentiates Standout Jobs is that control is in the hands of the company, which can modify the site at any time to keep it fresh and lively. Job posting can be as easy as cutting and pasting.
The other big differentiators are the CRM and basic ATS that are part of the system backend. Oh yes, did we mention there are also collaboration tools enabling recruiters, hiring managers, and others to review individual candidates, do basic backgrounding via resources such as Google, and rate them?
Founders Ben Yoskovitz, Fred Ngo, and Austin Hill got an initial $2 million in seed financing from iNovia Capital and a group of angel investors. They have since received an additional round of capital. (Read Yoskovitz' instructional and entertaining blog account of his on-the-job training.)
