In business since Truman was president, the company has developed a well-deserved reputation as a high-quality provider of advertising services for recruiters and employers.
In 1951, Joseph R. Shaker founded a small newspaper sales rep firm in Chicago called Shaker Advertising. A few short years later, satellite offices were opening around Chicagoland to support the growing needs of Shaker's clients. By 1972, several of Joe Shaker's children had joined the agency ranks and branch offices were opening in Tampa, Florida, and East Brunswick, New Jersey.
The 1990s saw Shaker's grandchildren joining the agency, continuing the family's legacy. In 1992,
Shaker's son, Joseph G. Shaker, assumed the role of chairman and CEO. In 2000, to reflect the changes in the industry and in the company, Shaker Advertising
became Shaker Recruitment Advertising & Communications.
Today, the company handles employer branding, employee communications, interactive media solutions, campaign development, out-of-home advertising, and collateral materials. Shaker serves approximately 1,800 clients, including marquee names such as Coca-Cola and Caremark, and is now the nation's second-largest privately owned recuitment advertising and communications agency.
