Public Jobs Direct is a niche job board developed by Eden Brown Ltd., a recruitment and staffing company specializing in technical and public sector occupations in the United Kingdom.
Public sector is a fairly broad category, encompassing not only government positions, including public safety jobs, but also the arts, non-profits, health sector positions and more.
The site had 385 jobs online at the end of 2008, with all but one in the UK. Many were listings of the Eden Brown firm, however there was an assortment of other postings. The site is already promoting jobs and volunteer positions for the 2012 London Olympics.
Direct employer hiring in the UK, though growing, is still the exception. Nonetheless, PublicJobsDirect.com accepts job postings from employers and recruiters as well as agencies, but you must establish an account and deal with a sales rep.
The site claims over 7,000 registered jobseekers, who must upload a CV, and says it gets some 50,000 unique visitors a month. We did not see any way to search CVs.
Eden Brown is owned by Hamilton Bradshaw Human Capital, an investment fund specializing in the staffing sector. HBHC is led by Tristan Ramus and chaired by James Caan.
