In the olden days of the last century, there were recruiters, hiring managers, and headhunters. Some employers had all three. Some only a hiring manager. Somewhere along the way the idea took hold that having a hiring manager run an ad in the paper and handle the whole process might not be the best way to recruit staff. The staffing companies began to provide turnkey hiring solutions and thus was born recruitment process outsourcing.

Pierpoint International, whose very logo proclaims RPO to be its middle name, is one of those companies founded specificially to provide recruitment services. It fully or partially manages recruitment for companies as big as Fortune 500 organizations and works domestically and globally. Efforts are concentrated on candidate identification, behavioral and background screening and profiling.

The company also offers a variety of consulting services ranging from strategic human capital planning for c-level executives all the way to candidate sourcing and research to keep the hiring pipeline full. There's also a sort of "security" program to reduce the likelihood of recruiter raiding.
