This Dallas-based company uses psychological testing to extract what it calls the "behavioral DNA" from top performers in an organization. These characteristics (i.e., energy, optimism, creativity) form the basis against which candidates are measured which, in turn, helps businesses find and keep employees who are likely to be most successful in a specific environment.
Like many great ideas turned successful ventures, founder Gabriel Goncalves started using psychological screening while he was running Erapmus, a Dallas-based networking-services company. But he felt the screening tests were too time-consuming, expensive, and required too much interpretation. After selling Erapmus, he recruited experts in industrial psychology at Rice University and Texas A&M University to help develop a better testing process, eventually getting them to join his advisory board. In addition, the company licensed some of the more established psychological tests, then worked on automating them rather than reinventing them. By February 2002, the company launched its first Web-based product.
Today it counts Neiman Marcus, Sbarro, and Gold's Gym among its clients. It uses a channel sales program including a raft of independent representatives to sell its products, a program Goncalves has blogged about.
