Orbit was originally developed as a custom ATS product to meet the recruitment needs of clients such as Airbus UK and Honda of the UK Manufacturing. In 2006, the product was made available to the market generally. It's based on open source technology, meaning the base software coding is in the public domain making it possible for developers worldwide to contribute improvements and enhancements.

Orbit comes in three versions: enterprise for high-volume recruiting; a college graduate specific program; and a vendor management version. Tailored for the U.K. market, the company boasts it has more than 750 agencies using Orbit who have processed some 116,000 candidates with 5 billion (yes, with a B!) assessments processed through Orbit software.
