OpportunityKnocks.org is one of the few, broad-based job boards focused exclusively on the nonprofit community. Its listings tend to come principally from the national non-profits and those in the San Francisco Bay Area (where the employment service was started, Atlanta (where the job board is now headquartered), New York and Washington, D.C.
The 30,000 or so monthly visitors are well-educated and well experience, according to the demographics on the site, which makes the $100 single posting fee a relative bargain. Multi-job posting packages and resume searching are also available.
At any given time there are several hundred jobs listed. The site claims 195,000 users and 160,000 resumes in the database. It's mostly a job board, but there is a smattering of articles and resources for jobseekers, though there's more for the non-profits themselves.
The site got its start in San Francisco in 1998 when it was launched by The Management Center as a companion to its print employment guide for non-profits, which was also called Opportunity Knocks. When The Management Center closed its doors in 2004, OpportunityKnocks.org was transferred to the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, which runs the site.
