Like many of the leaders in HR information software, NuView started small, offering HR Expert! Suite for companies whose benefits management even then consisted of paper forms and filing cabinets or maybe a customized spreadsheet.
A few years later, as the Internet demonstrated its staying power, NuView began launching over-the-Web products. These ASP-based HR products were new enough then to earn the company its first industry accolade, a mention in Human Resource Executive magazine's top-10 products for 2000 list. Since then, NuView has gone on to win other awards for its products, including an HR Technology Excellence Award in 2003 and a visionary vendor award by Gartner in 2006.
Why the applause? For one, NuView plows the mid-range market where price is a concern yet the need for HR management information is as critical as for a Fortune 500. While it offers an enterprise version that can be installed in-house by a client, by providing its services over the Internet as an ASP, NuView appeals to firms with small IT departments and those that simply don't want to add more hardware and technical demands. The NuViewHR suite is flexible enough that a company can add modules as its needs grow. Many vendors offer modular components; it's the smart way to develop products in the 21st century. But NuView's modules are far more extensive than simple enhancements to an ATS. The company has components for benefits admin, payroll (including the actual printing of payroll checks and direct deposits), succession and performance management, training, and a few others. Proudly proclaiming itself to be self-financed and VC-free (the company is owned by the CEO and CTO who founded it), NuView is doing well enough to go shopping. It bought Cort Software in late 2007, enabling it to add the company's payroll mangement prowess to the NuViewHR suite.
