Ten-year-old nowHIRE offers a range of ATS products and recruitment solutions for mid-sized companies.

In the last year or two, it has attracted the attention of larger companies and has deployed its Web-based system to auto-parts retailer PepBoys and rolled out its largest installation in late 2007: A 4,100 location, multi-lingual deployment for AutoZone, the largest parts retailer in the U.S.

Beginning with an interactive voice response system in 1998, nowHIRE built out its recruitment product line to now include systems specific for the hourly environment, government contractors, hospitals, professional recruiters, and large enterprises with multiple departments and users. It also provides customized solutions for clients with unique or detailed needs. Because the system is modular, the base application and feature sets are standard, allowing a smaller company to move up as it grows. One particularly interesting innovation is its electronic signature capture, which can make the entire recruiting and onboarding process completely paperless. It isn't the only company with an electronic signature capability, but with the rollout of the signature pad to Pep Boys' 592 locations, nowHIRE may have the largest installation.

The company's website says it has some 300 clients with more than 10,500 system users. Besides the two parts retailers, clients include Match.com, Terumo Medical Corporation, and Hotels.com.

owHIRE has also recently tapped the power of E-Verify, a Web-based service operated by the Department of Homeland Security. Not only can nowHIRE help all government agencies and departments that hire federal contractors to comply with the E-Verify mandate, other organizations can streamline their I-9 compliance. nowHIRE says it's the first ATS vendor to offer paperless I-9 compliance technology with an optional E-Verify component as an integrated ATS module or as a standalone product. 

Here's a curious little mystery about the company. The company shares the same address with Interactive Solutions Group, which is listed on the bottom of the nowHIRE webpage as the copyright holder. Hoover's lists nowHIRE's president Joseph N. Impastato as manager of Interactive, a $5-million-a-year firm. Go to the firm's website and you learn it is a software solutions company to public sector agencies and healthcare organizations. And there's an Interactive Solutions Group in New South Wales, Australia, where Impastato spent a year in college.

Not that any of this matters. It just piqued our curiosity.
