The company may be young, but the product isn't. Newton, an SaaS ATS, is the first release from this downtown San Francisco company. It was developed and used by the founders in their tech-focused RPO.
With easy access to software engineers and designers, founders Steve Hazelton and Joel Passen refined Newton not only to include all the critical and must-have ATS features, but also to make it easy to use.
"Our idea was to tackle recruiting software by focusing on the users of software, not features," the founders say on the company website. "This means we have become probably overly obsessed with designing easy to use software."
We first wrote about Newton on ERE in April 2009. In the comments, Passen clarifies some of the questions we had about Newton's ability to handle inbound resumes, batch process them, and post to internal and external job boards. In case you don't click into the story, the answer is Newton does all of that.
The founders are still involved in running the RPO business, GravityPeople, which shares office space with Newton and uses the technology. That's a plus for a software vendor focused on the smaller employer and staffing firm. If there's a new twist in the market (posting to Twitter, for instance), chances are good Passen and Hazelton already know about it and are adding it to Newton.
Cost is under $2,000 annually.
