This global company with the curious name is focused exclusively on recruitment. If you are looking for a soup-to-nuts HR systems vendor, look elsewhere. But for a full-service recruitment solution especially well-suited to the needs of multinational companies with a wide recruiting net, MrTed offers TalentLink to manage the entire recruitment lifecycle, including contingent management and outplacement.
Web-based TalentLink components cover ATS, career center hosting, staffing vendor management, internal recruitment, and more, including comprehensive analytics tools that go well beyond the usual time- and cost-to-fill metrics. Components like the career center can be independently deployed without buying the entire TalentLink suite. If that's your interest, then at least for the career center examples MrTed points to on the website, there are slicker vendors, though few that can handle the 40 languages the company claims proficiency in.
In late 2008 MrTed launched a free ATS aimed at the lower end market. In less than six months there were 1,000 client companies signed up and using the SaaS provisioned system. Called SmartRecruiters, the system really, honestly is entirely free. And though you won't find all the power of its TalentLink suite, SmartRecruiters is not some stripped down version, but a useful ATS with resume parsing, CRM, job board, and other features for which other companies charge up to $100 a month per use.
Not only do we think MrTed does recruiting right, so does Red Herring, which named the company a finalist in its 100 best European technology companies in 2007. It's raised $35 million in venture capital since its founding, primarily from BV Capital and Holland Venture.
The company became profitable in 2003, spending some of its profits and VC money to acquire German E-recruitment company Refline and push into Asia, opening an office in Beijing. The company's biggest strength is its international know-how. That's also why most of its customers are European or foreign subsidiaries of U.S. firms. The company's primary sales area is Europe; only a few U.S. firms are among its clients, which collectively have more than 50,000 corporate users of TalentLink.
