Operating out of offices in Toronto, Los Angeles, U.K., and South Africa, mindSCOPE Staffing Software focuses on delivering applicant tracking and candidate testing software.
The company began as One on One Software, and in 1999 moved from being solely a distributor of computer-based training software to a professional software-development firm by creating a staffing software product known as mindSCOPE, an SQL-based system. Product refinements led to the creation of the more sophisticated Web-based CURA specifically designed for staffing agencies, recruiting services, and executive search.
The company website doesn't offer any information about the principals or their recruiting backgrounds, a shortcoming too common among smaller firms. However, it does offer a useful online demo of the basics of CURA and how it works. We especially appreciate the ability to tour the product without having to provide the marketing department with contact information. We note also the numerous partnerships with firms like AIRS and eQuest.
Our research did turn up one disgruntled customer, unhappy enough to have blogged about the travails of getting the database re-opened in order to extract certain information. We're not taking sides and don't know all the details, but it does point up one of the risks in the ASP model where the database is stored elsewhere than on the client's system.
