Should you meet the CEO of IdealHire check his hand before you shake it. Bruce Culver, a serial entrepreneur, happens to also be a long-time member of the board of Taser, the company that makes the non-lethal electronic weapon of the same name.
Fortunately, IdealHire Technologies makes much less shocking tools, specializing in selling a candidate matching service called PowerMatch an ATS-like add-on to a company’s career center. Inbound applications are compared to job descriptions and the candidates are ranked according to how good a match they are. Like any matching technology – and there are many out there – the ranking and scoring depend as much on the skill of the hiring manager to write a clear and accurate job description and the recruiter to confirm it, as it does on the applicant to properly complete the online profile. But that’s an industry issue, not just one for IdealHire.
In fact, the company tells us that it's less of a problem with IdealHire because "both parties are speaking a common language." Both applicant and employer fill-out a structured form detailing experience and skills, picking from a list of more than 12,000 skills.
The company also offers two other services:
- A corporate career portal that comes with PowerMatch;
- A commercial, private label job board with e-commerce capabilities and PowerMatch technology.
