The Employment Guide was founded in 1997 when its previous owner, Trader Publishing Company, bought The Detroit Employment Guide.

It publishes more than 500 specialty publications such as For Rent, Homes.com, Boat Trader, Cycle Trader, and RV Trader and more than 40 speciality websites.
