This is a staffing and technology consulting company with a focus, but not an exclusive one, in RPO and workforce analytics. The former is straightforward enough. Like most RPOs, Doublestar provides both end-to-end and project-oriented recruiting. It also offers some a la carte services such as developing a talent list of inactives for a specific project or intelligence or pipeline filling purposes. The workforce analytics is a practice that has been emerging from out of the Fortune 500 where the need, especially among multinationals, to extract information from disparate offices and legacy data systems has been evident for years. Now, smaller companies are seeing the value in business intelligence not only mined from what exists, but in developing new and better ways of collecting information and presenting it. The demand for business intelligence and Doublestar's prowess in data-driven talent management analysis lead it to create an entirely new company devoted just to business intelligence recruiting. Velaris can help a company assess, for instance, the value of one training program versus another on employee productivity. Velaris isn't replacing Doublestar's traditional talent measurement services. It still focuses on the HR analytics companies need to make wise business decisions, helping them figure out what to measure, how to do it, and how to understand and use the data. That's the consulting side. There's also a technology side it calls Workforce Insight. The product is a form of HRMS the company says delivers operational, organizational, and strategic insight on a single data platform. Doublestar was created in 1999 by the merger of Staffing Solutions Group and IEA Business Solutions. It's client roster includes a fair number of the Fortune 1000 including such stalwarts as Merck and WalMart and several government agencies and municipalities. The IRS is a client as is the U.S. Navy and Department of the Interior.
