Company Explorers bils itself as the United Kingdom's first employment comparison site. Here, any registered user can rate a company or a recruitment agency, which is how most British companies hire.
It's a useful service for a site that also offers job postings. Find a job, then check how the agency or company ranks.
The user ratings are aggregated and compared against national averages, so a jobseeker (or anyone, for that matter) can find how the company or agency rates. Unlike some other sites (Jobvent comes to mind), Company Explorer is purely statistical. The challenge is trying to figure out which companies are the victims of disgruntled workers and which are victims of themselves.
What drives the revenue are traditional job postings and CV searching. This part of the site is as familiar as any job board. The cost is relatively low, 45 GBP, which, at the rate in effect at the end of 2008, was $66 U.S.
