BrightMove ATS is a product of Artis IT, a tech contract firm for small- to mid-sized businesses. The two companies share the same offices, and the founders of BrightMove founded and own ArtisIT, which also provides contract IT staff. James Hurff and David Webb worked together as software developers at Oakscape on projects that included customized staffing software. They launched Hurff-Webb, Inc. as a contract IT service and, according to reports, as the business grew and IT staffing expanded, they went shopping for an ATS. When they couldn't find what they wanted, they developed their own. Thus was born BrightMove.

It is an end-to-end solution including applicant tracking, requirements management, time tracking, financials, and business intelligence. Because this is an ASP product, no local software is needed. That's a positive for small- or mid-sized shops without on-staff IT that want to be up and running quickly.
