Hire a vet. That's advice Bradley-Morris wants you to take. Preferably, of course, you'll do your hiring through BMI, a staffing and placement firm specializing in transitioning and former military.
That much is clear enough from the company's eponymous Web site. A little harder to find are the company's other services, including a resume writing and review site for transitioning vets and a content-oriented site that is the online companion to the company's monthly newspaper, Civilian Jobs News. The newspaper includes pages of recruitment classified advertising.
Besides offering companies branding and marketing opportunities via the newspaper and Web site, BMI also conducts multiple job fairs each year in military towns. These are a little different than your typical fair where the doors open and the hordes pour in. First, you need to be a BMI client. Second, BMI pre-schedules interviews with specific candidates and preps them in a day-before workshop, coaching them in interviewing techniques and helping them background the company and job.
The company boasts that more than half its employees are former military. That's certainly true of the executive team where all but two, including the co-founder, are not only vets, but most of them are former pilots. (Top Gun, anyone?)
CEO Sandy Morris founded BMI in 1991 with her now retired co-founder, Shaun Bradley, specifically to help Fortune 1000 and mid-market companies hire transitioning military personnel.
Today, the company has eight offices in the U.S. and is a recognized expert in the field of veteran hiring. Company executives have testified before the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs.
BMI is a WBENC-certified woman-owned business / diversity supplier.

Job Fairs
We've taken the liberty of calling these hiring conferences job fairs only because it's a quick way to identify the subject. However, it's a bit like calling a souffle an egg dish. These conferences provide pre-arranged interviews with candidates that match employer requirements. Candidates attend a pre-conference workshop that preps them for the next day's interview. -
