Aruspex is the brainchild of two women who saw a need for better workforce planning and acted on their vision. Tess Walton, a workforce planning practitioner, was frustrated that no true strategic workforce planning tools were available, and Stacy Chapman, a former PeopleSoft software strategist, was frustrated that HR applications weren’t really looking at the strategic side of human resource planning.
So in 2003, these two Australians came together to found Aruspex, which has grown into a highly regarded international workforce strategy consultancy and software prodivder.
Based in Victoria, Australia, the company works with more than 40 firms globally, helping them plan their future workforce needs in order to achieve their corporate strategic goals. Strategic workforce planning is an up-and-coming area of HR practice made increasingly more critical by the growing shortage of workers generally and the critical shortage of workers in certain sectors. Aruspex helps companies look at their human capital needs into the future, detailing not only headcount, but the skills the company will need to meet competitive challenges and its strategic objectives.
Aruspex emphasizes that strategic planning be a continuous process offering its CAPTure software that collects data from throughout the company, then allows executives and planners to run a variety of scenarios to predict their impact on the company. It also offers consulting services, and in 2008 will be adding workshops on workforce planning.
