Privately owned Kronos (profile; site) issued a press release saying it's fiscal 2008 EBITA (earnings before interest, tax, and amortization) rose 20 percent over the year before to $138 million. Revenue for fiscal 2008 were approximately $715 million. The company didn't say when its fiscal year begins and ends, but many companies typically begin Oct. 1 and end their fiscal year on Sept. 30.

Study Shows Trends In Corporate Social Networking Dec 11, 2008
New research shows that an increasing number of organizations are informally experimenting with Web 2.0 tools for business purposes. A study conducted by think tank Human Capital Institute (HCI) and talent management software provider Cornerstone OnDemand Inc. says more than half of the companies surveyed use communities of practice/groups and chat/instant messaging (IM), with other popular applications including corporate social networks (49 percent) and blogs and/or wikis (39 percent).

Monster Index Takes A Hit In December; Down 22 Percent Over the Year Jan 8, 2009
The Monster Employment Index declined 12 points in December, as economic uncertainty continued to weigh on U.S. online recruitment activity. SHL Study Finds Managers Uninspiring With Men More Affected Than Women Jan 14, 2009
New research from SHL, a provider of talent assessment solutions, says only a quarter of workers report their manager motivational all or some of the time.
While that may not be much of a surprise, the SHL research finds men more likely to be de-motivated by poor senior management (38 percent) and poor line management (29 percent) than women. On the other hand 17 percent of women are more affected by criticism and poor relationships with colleagues (19 percent) than their male counterparts. Age also can have an impact on motivation, with young employees (aged 18 to 34) more likely to be de-motivated by uninteresting work (37 percent) than those over age 35 (26 percent). Young workers also are more motivated by company culture and their work environment than older colleagues.

Report Says Federal Agencies Have Need For 270,000 Workers Sep 3, 2009
The Partnership for Public Service estimates that the federal government will need to fill more than 270,000 positions by 2012.
The estimate comes from a survey of 35 federal agencies representing nearly 99 percent of the federal workforce, which was released today in the report WHERE THE JOBS ARE 2009: Mission-Critical Opportunities for America.
The survey was funded by Monster Government Solutions and the AON Consulting.
